“La Chaire-A-Calvin” Rockshelter
(Charente, Southwest France)

 

Welcome to Anthropology 1 with Christophe Delage.

The purpose of this class is to introduce the student to the essentials of physical (biological) anthropology in relation to cultural behavior. This includes the basics of genetics, evolutionary theory, primate taxonomy and fossil ancestors to humans, and human evolution (including an overview of the fossil record), and techniques of archaeology. It is one of the our main sub-disciplines of Anthropology; the other three being socio/cultural anthropology, archaeology, and linguistic.

In this website, we will learn about the rockshelter of La Chaire-A-Calvin in Charente, Southwest France. It is one of the well known sites for megaliths and prehistoric art.
